The initial "move" is to get the subject drawn on paper.  Then I select the size canvas.  Then I start copying the paper drawiong onto canvas making adjustments to it as new ideas come to mind.  Four hours in.

This one  is nearing completion. From the drawing on paper beginning,  this painting has encompased about eight hours  Probably another two hours and it will be done.

Got to thinking about Hong Kong and remembering my visits there.  This will be a painting from the harbor as I remember it from the early fifties.  The finished product will appear here soon.  This is a large canvas [ 30 x 40 ] and will probably take 40 hours.

While remenicing about the Far East,  the strange phenomenon in the way the little islands come abruptly out of the water,  etc.  and the lovely shapes of the boats in that part of the world.  The sound of their one and two cylinder ingines pushing them suprisingly fast through the water has always facinated me.  I'm about six hours into this one and will probably be working on it for another 30 or 40.

I love street scenes.  In my imagination,  I have decided upon a street with the kiosk along the way [ simply because I like kiosks a lot ] and my intentions at this point are to have shop windows on both sides of the street lit in the evening light and rain coming down ... not a harsh rain ...  a soft rain that we all like.  I wonder what the final painting will look like.
